2018-19 paint-&-take


I haven't finished anything in a while (although I'm in the middle of a good number of items), but here are some miniatures that were in the wrong box, and ended up in front of the camera.

On the left is a Star Wars imperial soldier with a tube weapon that I assume is a high-tech RPG. I think that he came from a game shop flea market several years ago.  I have about a platoon of imperials that I've painted olive green.  The underside of his base says, "28/60 Imperial 12 Heavy Stormtrooper (c) 2004 LFL & TM."  I assume that's 28th Company of the 60th Regiment of the 12th Heavy Stormtrooper Legion, but, if I recall correctly, he's now in the Sacnoth Army of the Sword Worlds Confederation in my Traveller universe.

Next is a from paint-&-take at a convention in the last couple of years.  I don't know anything else about him, but I like him.  He's been in a Traveller tabletop miniatures game already.

The next two are also from a recent paint-&-take.  The undersides of their bases say "Coolminiornot Inc.".

I gave the Star Wars soldier a base for a jungle setting for a specific scenario.  The other three have attempts at generic bases that will be ignored or at least not stick out anywhere.

Asteroids from Dollar Tree

 Asteroids from Dollar Tree (and Home Depot or Lowe's).  I bought (1) a set of 4 white styrofoam balls and (2) 2 sort of twigs with black and orange balls.  The unused black and orange balls, no longer taped together as a twig, are in foreground.   I used the wire that formed the twig to mount each ball to a heavy metal washer.  I mounted the white styrofoam balls on flight stands that I had glued to heavy metal washers long ago (and used for Full Thrust).  Then I put them in cardboard box and hit them with shots of gray primer and black primer until I thought they looked OK.

gCarrier in Splinter Pattern

Here is a gcarrier in a splinter camouflage pattern, with 25mm miniature figures for scale.  I haven't decided which faction will get this vehicle yet.  Paints were Rustoleum primer white, primer brown, primer gray, and Krylon khaki camouflage.  Masking tape was used for masking.  The triangle thing on top is a cut from a square sticker used to protect the floor from furniture feet.  The landing feet are round squares of the same material.  No gluing was needed for this model.  This vehicle was formerly a miniature vaccuum cleaner: I believe that I acquired it at a yard sale for much less than $1.  This picture shows stickers that I have added for the driver's escape hatch (round pink "$1"), for the driver's and gunner's viewports (red rectangles), for the top hatch (gray rectangle of duct tape), and for the top triangle, maybe a sensor and communications array, or the point defense system. More science fiction operators

The middle miniature is Reaper Bones.  The other two are metal.  I don't remember where they came from -- possibly the bits box at my local game store.  They are all painted to work with the three agents or operators I posted for 13 April 2020.  After posting these pictures, I gave the one on the right a clear base to improve stability. Background is the same tie-dyed polyester fleece from Joann's.  Shot with iPhone 6 at default settings.
